During this project I was a little limited with my choice of materials and tools because I wanted to use things that I already owned – I have loads of paper that I don’t use. But I was still able to practice a lot of stitch and bind methods.

I mainly focused on;
Kettle stitch

French Stitch

Saddle Stich

Tortoise Shell Stich

Coptic Stitch

This was a time consuming, precise task. The binding would become challenging because the thread got caught, the paper ripped, or there wasn’t enough tension on the strings. But when I see the exposed backs of the papers it is all worth it. I practiced a few techniques, and if I didn’t understand a new method – I noticed that I started to make my own decisions instead of following the intricate tutorials.
